This comprehensive 3-day course features two systems for display calibration. The course is designed to give the attendee the know-how to calibrate any monitor found in a professional film and television environment. The main system is designed to teach students how to calibrate all professional monitors using Colourspace. This will be a deep dive into display calibration including creating matrix offsets for colourimeters using a very high-end spectrophotometer CR300 provided by EIZO. As an added bonus, the second system uses ColorNavigator 7 to learn how to calibrate EIZO monitor using the EIZO calibration system.
EIZO CN7 integrates with EIZO professional imaging monitors to allow accurate calibration to be performed by creatives. The course will take students through a deep dive into CN7 based around post production workflows. Colourspace will include 3D lut calibration, 2-point white point and how to use the lut tools scaling function to successfully use a lut box in legal level workflow.
The Course includes small class size for optimal learning, lunch, and light refreshments throughout the day. Max class size is 8 with minimum 4 attendees required.
In post-production systems, there are always other monitors such as client monitors that require calibration so that there is image matching between the reference monitor and the client monitor. Using Colourspace, the student will learn how to correctly calibrate the other types of monitors found in and around post production systems such as used in post suites, DIT and broadcast.
A significant amount of time will be spent on issues that cause problems when calibrating monitors. Learning to recognize these issues is fundamental to successful display calibration.
This session is designed to gain a basic understanding of how light works with the human visual system. This is to give an understanding of the display and its environment and how the environment affects the viewing conditions and the perceived image. Measuring colour topic area is designed to give clear knowledge of how we actually measure colour and the instruments used and why we use them. A fundamental understanding of probe matching and why it is critical to calibration. A good understanding of this topic will ensure accurate calibration of different displays.
This session is the fundamental building block for the third session which is a practical session. This session provides the knowledge set to be able to accomplish monitor calibration in the film and tv industry.
